Consultation Policy
The Law Offices of Lauren Kemps-Thibodeaux, PLLC

The purpose of our consultations is for the Attorney to gather more information about your specific case, identify your options moving forward to resolve your matter, help you to determine the best course of action, answer any questions you may have, and discuss the fees and terms of engaging in representation if an attorney-client relationship is to be established after the consultation.

During your consultation, only one matter is to be discussed. For additional matters, a separate consultation will need to be booked, Consultations may or may not last the full time, it will depend upon your particular matter. Consultation fees are not refundable regardless of whether the full time was utilized.

It is not guaranteed that an attorney-client relationship will be established at the end of the consultation. However, all information and documents provided in the consultation will remain confidential regardless of whether or not it is agreed to have our Attorney handle your legal matter unless you elect otherwise.

It will be impossible to truly determine the depth of your matter with such a limited amount of time and documentation. Therefore, any expressions on our part about the possible outcome of your legal matters are expressions of our best professional judgment, but they are not guaranteed. Such opinions are limited by our knowledge of the limited facts provided in the consultation and are based on the state law at the time they are expressed.

No attorney-client relationship is intended to be established by consultations. The consultation is a service provided by our office, with a very limited scope, to help you determine whether or not you may want to retain our Attorney to provide later legal services. Upon the end of the consultation, you are in no way obligated to retain our Attorney nor is our Attorney obligated to provide you with legal services now nor in the future. The decision to move forward, in retaining our Attorney and our Attorney providing you with legal services, must be mutually agreed upon by both parties.

If you agree to retain our Attorney, and if we agree to provide legal services to you, at that time we will draft a Representation Agreement to be signed and executed by both parties. The Representation Agreement will set forth the scope of the representation, the necessary retainer and fees for your matter, and additional terms and conditions moving forward.

The initial consultation will be provided to you at the agreed cost. Payment in full is to be made before the consultation appointment. Consultation fees are not refundable This is because legal services have already been made available to you at the time the consultation began.

Additional Consultations

If for some reason you need to make a second consultation with our Attorney, you will be asked to book a second consultation appointment for the specific matter and the fees may vary.
